Detailed Description:

When you reboot your computer, many programs will begin running automatically. There are many good things here, things like calendars, reminders, cleanup programs, etc., as many programs need a way to start running automatically or they would be useless (or you would be forced to go start them everytime yourself). Unfortunately many spyware or adware programs also startup this way. Because of this, spyare can be placed there to automatically run and be an advertising and popup nightmare. To view everything that runs when you reboot your computer, click Start, then click Run, then type msconfig in the box and click ok to run this. A window will open, go to your startup tab to view the items listed, and if you see any spyware or adware programs you can uncheck them here so they will not start the next time you reboot.

This site provides a list of interesting subjects, tips, and tricks. Although it is mostly computer tips, there are also tips and tricks related to various other helpful topics besides just computers. If you have an important tip that you think should be listed, feel free to post it below. Although I still take tips via email, I often scan and review posts on the page below and prefer that method.
