View List Detailed Description: If you wish to manually remove spyware, there are things you can do to find and remove these types of things. First off, if you are not very familiar with computers at all then you certainly should use a spyware remover for this or a virus checker that also includes a spyware remover (note that adaware and spyware search and destroy are two very good spyware removers and both are free. These programs are updated often for the latest spyware and I would recommend getting them if you do not already have them.). The first step to removing spyware manually is to become familiar with your task list and what is running. The next step is to become familiar with what you have running at startup (If you click start-run, then type msconfig, then go to your startup tab, you can view everything that runs when you reboot). By famliarizing yourself with your pc startup, you will know if anything new is added there. You can also search on these program names to find out the purpose of each. If they are not necessary, simply remove them from your startup. Removing from startup does not delete the program, it will still be there if you need it, but this simply means it does not run automatically when you reboot. This is important as spyware needs a place to start running, and most are hidden there. Once you remove it from startup, it will no longer have a way to run when you reboot and it will be as good as gone, even if its still on your disk, as its no longer a threat.
