People have often asked me how to backup iphone data using icloud. I will give you step by step instructions on how to do this. Apple has made this very simple and very convenient, as you don't even need to plug it into your computer (although itunes will backup iphone data automatically if you want to do it that way, but we'll cover icloud backup here instead of itunes backup). First off, go into your settings. You will see "icloud" listed, tap it. If you already entered your apple id and password, then your id shows on the account, otherwise go ahead an enter it. Now scroll the screen down and you will see "storage and backup". Tap it, and you now see how much storage you have. Icloud is free and has a free 5 gig storage. If you need more storage you can purchase more, but 5 gig will easily cover all your contacts, favorites, apps data, etc., all the main things you need when you get a new phone as you can simple replace them with icloud on your new phone later once you have backed it up. Now scroll the screen down and turn icloud backup on. It will confirm you wont use itunes backup anymore, thats fine just say ok. Now scroll that screen down a bit more to see "backup data now". Tap it, and backup will begin. Make sure you are connected to wifi befroe doing so. Thats all there is to it, you now have an icloud backup, and later when you upgrade your iphone you simply sign on to icloud again and it will ask if you want the backup loaded.
