The weakfish fish photo shown below is a close up picture showing you exactly what a Weakfish fish looks like. Weakfish and Yellowmouth Trout are the same fish, but are called 2 different names. These trout are not well known by most fishing anglers, except for those that are heavy trout fishermen, as most confuse the yellowmouth trout with a spotter seatrout. They really look identical except the yellowmouth trout has the tinted yellow color across the back and fins, and a strong yellow color in the mouth. It's also called weakfish because of the very soft mouth, if you hook one of these bring them in slowly so the hook does not tear free of their mouth.

How to identify a weakfish? Some characteristics of the weakfish include being confused with the seatrout, having a yellow mouth, having a soft mouth, and scales. These fish die quickly when out of water and have mouths that tear easily. (Always remember when releasing fish to get them back into the water as soon as possible and not over/rough handling, so the fish do not die after being released. Just because the fish swims away does not mean it actually survived).
