View List Detailed Description: These toadfish photos shown below are close up pictures showing you exactly what a toadfish fish looks like. Toadfish, often called "toads" as one word, or "toad fish", are caught in salt water or brine water, and vary alot in color. Most toadfish are not very large in size, and are often frustrating for most fishing anglers. I really don't know if you can eat toadfish or not, but either way they are usually so small they are known as a garbage fish. They have very strong jaws and bait such as shrimp, crabs, clams, barnacles, oysters, or minnows. They can crush shells, so keep your hands away. Most catch them while fishing for other fish in the backwaters or creeks, or even in the ocean. There are also many different types of toadfish, some are also the oyster cracker toadfish types which are also different. You can see that the color of the toadfish above and below varies greatly. They also have huge heads and smaller narrow like bodies.
Please remember to always following fishing regulations for catch and release, as it is important to release fish to help keep the population strong for the next time you go out fishing. Releasing larger fish that produce the most eggs is also critical, and remember when releasing fish that you handle them as little as possible, and get them back into the water as soon as you can.
