View List Detailed Description: These croaker fish photos shown below are close up pictures showing you exactly what a croaker fish looks like. Croaker are caught in salt water or brine water, and are a favorite eating fish for many fishing anglers. Larger croaker often lose their stripes while the smaller croakers have clear black stripes on them. Croaker are part of the drum fish family, but normally are not as large as black drum or red drum. Croaker often feed on bait such as shrimp, fiddler crabs, and clams. Cut up fish, oysters, or minnows may also work as croaker bait. These larger croaker photos below show the difference between the black stripes on the smaller croaker above, versus the larger croaker shown here below. These are some very large croaker, most are much smaller when caught.
Please remember to always following fishing regulations for catch and release, as it is important to release fish to help keep the population strong for the next time you go out fishing. Releasing larger fish that produce the most eggs is also critical, and remember when releasing fish that you handle them as little as possible, and get them back into the water as soon as you can.
