These blue crab photos shown below are close up pictures showing you exactly what a blue crab looks like. Blue crab are caught in salt water or brine water, and normally caught in crab traps but often are pulled in on fishing lines with the crab just holding on to the bait and not wanting to let go of it. Blue crab are very colorfull and can vary depending upon the type of water they are in. I've seen crabs with alot of blue all over it, and yet I've seen blue crabs colored in various red and orange colors also when caught in areas that contain more fresh water. Blue crabs feed on almost anything, as most crabs are known to clean up anything found dead on the bottom of the rivers, streams, or oceans.

These bluecrab photos show a nice variation in the amount of colors or the shades of colors found on different blue crabs.

Please remember to always following regulations for catch and release, as it is important to release crabs to help keep the crab population strong. Remember to handle them as little as possible, and get them back into the water as soon as you can.
