View List Detailed Description: The alligator photo shown below is a close up picture showing you exactly what an american alligator looks like. Alligators are found in fresh water areas of the south in places like Texas, Florida, and Louisiana. They occasionally will be found in brine water or areas with some salt water, but normally just passing through to other locations. It's very common for people in the south to find alligators in nearby ponds, ditches, or anywhere there is fresh water. Alligator is also served in quite a few fish camps or restaurants in the southern areas, as they have made a nice comeback over the years after almost being hunted to extinction at one time. Please remember to always following fishing regulations for catch and release, as it is important to release fish to help keep the population strong for the next time you go out fishing. Releasing larger fish that produce the most eggs is also critical, and remember when releasing fish that you handle them as little as possible, and get them back into the water as soon as you can.
