The file status return code 10 is returned when the file i-o result was that a read statement was attempted and no next logical record existed in the file due to the end of file condition being reached first, of the file was not existing when a read was attempted on the mainframe. This file return code is referring to mainframe cobol file status codes (Vsam return codes or cobol file status codes).
