View List Detailed Description:
The trojan named Trojan.Elitebar, or as some call it "Elitebar", is actually spyware that changes your internet browser settings, and alters your search requests to go to specific sites. The main purpose is to advertise to you constantly, and this is very annoying and you will know if you have it on your computer. (This is also known as adware for obvious reasons). To remove this, look for folders named EliteBar, EliteSideBar, and EliteToolBar. These folders will contain several DLL files. Delete these entire folders. Next, check for programs that are spelled kalv*32.exe, Win*32.exe, and elite*32.exe, where the star can be any combination of 3 letters. Note that the 3 letters are random, so you will clearly recognize this as the spyware or adware program, be sure to check for all 3 and delete them. If you cannot delete them, find them in your tasklist and terminate them first, then go back and deletet them. Next find a folder named etb. Delete the entire folder, you will find some exe files in this folder and if necessary you may need to terminate the task on these first just as before. Finally, remove these from your startup list (if you deleted them then obviously they cannot restart when you reboot, but its just nice to cleanup your startup list). One other thing is that it also adds items to your browser favorites, so go clean these up when done and delete them so you do not visit their sites again!
