Detailed Description:

First off, disk defrag is already free and is located on your computer if you are running Windows. Go to your programs menu, look under accessories, if you dont see disk defrag in your list, then check under the system tools folder within there and you should see it. This is on all Windows computers, and it is free with your computer. The purpose of disk defrag is to reorganize all the files on your disk that continually get scattered around over time. This is important as it will make your pc more efficient and faster. This can also fix disk errors by flagging bad disk sectors so they do not get used, as it is normal for hard drives to occasionally get bad disk sectors over time, by flagging these bad sectors, it can help prevent crashes and keep your hard drive better maintained. You should run your defrag weekly or monthly, depending upon how much you do on your computer. I do mine monthly, and I use my computer continuously, so I probably should do it more often but monthly seems fine for me. After alot of program installations or file deletes it is also good to defrag the drive immediately after. If you are wondering why the diskdefrag continues to restart again and again, as occasionally happens with some computers, this is due to a badly defragmented hard drive and each time it will get a little further. You need to let this finish. You may even want to let it run while you go watch tv, etc, if defrag continues to restart over and over, it will eventually get all the way through. Once you complete this successfully and run it regularly, the this shouldn't happen again.
