Many applications have the cursor blinking. You can easily stop this by doing the following:

Run regedit, and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop
Next add a string value named CursorBlinkRate
Next give it a value of -1, and the next time you reboot your computer the blinking cursor will be gone.
