Detailed Description:

To stop CDs from automatically starting everytime a CD is placed in your CD ROM drive, do the following edit:

Go into the registry editor and enter the following values:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\C drom, and set "AutoRun"=dword:0000000

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

The next time you reboot, your computers CD ROM drive will no longer start playing CDs automatically when they are put in the drive.
