Detailed Description:

You can use AOL email with your Outlook or Outlook Express email client and the process is very simple to setup. Your email must support IMAP (not Pop3), so you simply with enter the IMAP address and your SMTP address and everything will work fine. First off, your IMAP server IP is imap.aol.com and your SMTP address will be smtp.aol.com (the port is 587). Open your Outlook or Outlook express menu and choose the add new email address option, then enter these 2 addresses listed above for your incoming and outgoing mail servers. (Also be sure to enter the 587 in the outgoing mail SMTP box). One other thing you want to do is put a check in the box that states "my outgoing server requires authentification". Note your email will be whatever your screen name is followed by "@aol.com". When you enter your email address you MUST have the @aol.com of course or it will not work. Simply save your settings are you are good to go, its that simple. Be aware that will lose some very good features that the AOL email client offers! These are things like pulling back unread mail after you have sent it, deleting sent mail before its read, and checking the status of mail that was sent to other AOL members. These are really nice features of the AOL email, and you cannot have these same features when switching to Outlook. Just something to be aware of.
