BP gas station boycotts are dumb
It only hurts the local business owner....
This describes
why it is dumb to think that boycotting BP gas stations will actually hurt BP. I'm not happy about the oil spill, but boycotting BP gas
stations is simply done by those that have no idea how the system works. First of all, oil is taken to refineries to be processed into gasoline.
At this point, you have no idea whether the gas coming out of refineries is from the mideast, BP, Shell, or any other country or company. The gas
stations are owned by local business owners, they aren't "BP representatives" who are bringing and selling "BP oil and gas", etc. The only way
you can actually boycott BP is by actually not using ANY GAS. I'm not happy about the oil leaking in the gulf, but I'm also not dumb enough to
boycott a BP gas station as if that matters.

I agree with it because its not like "BP reps" are running BP gas stations, its just any local person like you and me, its just that the franchise name says BP on it.

The worst part is the oil spill also affects all the tourism, not only local fishermen and crab fishermen, but shrimp fishermen, people who travel there to fish, people who stay in the casinos and eat at the restaurants and drink the beers there. This is all affecting the local businesses there in a big way. It's a shame because no only are all the jobs affected with fishermen, shrimpers, oysters, etc, but also waiters, waitresses, bartenders, fishing charters, souvenier shops, and all the other jobs that come with tourism.

just fix the ocean, the rest will fix itself. If you clean it up and the baitfish return, then all the birds, animals, and large fish will follow, along with tourists.

Ignorance is sad. People need to realize that boycotting BP is only going to hurt the workers in BP gas stations who are at no fault for this oil spill. I hate seeing those idiots with "Boycott BP" and "No more BP for me" sprayed on their cars. The funny thing its always some bloody teenage treehugger. (Im 16, not a fat man who discriminates against age.)

Totally agree with the last post, boycotting BP gas stations does nothing, its really unrelated. People just have no idea how business works.
